Boston Towing & Transportation is the largest and oldest continually operating towboatLiberty and Harold Reinauer at East Boston Facility company in New England.  Our fleet operates from BTT's corporate office and full support facility located on the waterfront in East Boston where we have a full complement of yard personnel including mechanics, welders and divers for in water repairs and maintenance.

Tugs Freedom and Liberty outboundOur fleet of ten tugs have a combined 23,000 HP and include the two  4400 HP ASD tractor tugs the Freedom and Liberty which were built by Washburn and Doughty in East  Boothbay Harbor, ME.  The Freedom and Liberty were built to safely handle the LNG tankers that make regular calls to the Distrigas Facility located in the Mystic River.  Both are equipped with firefighting systems that output 6000 gallons of water per minute.  These tugs have had training sessions with the Boston Fire Department. They are manned 24 hours a day with experienced crews able to handle any job assigned to them.

In addition to the Freedom and Liberty BTT also has  towboats that were acquired from Boston Towing.  They are the 3000 horsepower Vincent D Tibbetts Jr  and the Harold A Reinauer II, formerly the Daley and Cabot, and the 2000 HP Jason Reinauer and H.J. Reinauer formerly the Walton and the Rowe. The Hercules and Maverick are both 2000 HP Navy YTBs.  The Ethel Tibbetts is a 1700 HP diesel electric that was originally the W.R. Coe owned by Virginian Railway.  The Miriam is a 1600 HP diesel electric that was originally the Kathleen Tracy.

Our dedicated, fully licensed marine personnel and federal pilots have been working together for years providing ship handling and pilotage services in the Ports of Boston, Weymouth, Braintree, Quincy and Salem Mass with a degree of professionalism that is second to none.
